Acanthis

£385.00

A ravishingly beautiful woman in Greek Mythology, Acanthis was the daughter of Autonous and Hippodamia. Her mother tended over a herd of wild horses in pastures with an abundance of thistles. When her brother was killed by the horses, she was filled with grief. The Gods had pity on her and transformed her into a thistle finch with strength and a freedom to fly.

The thistle is also the national flower of Scotland. A revered wild flower it is both strong and alluring. This ring of sterling silver enlaid with faceted amethysts embraces the story of Acanthis and the nature of a thistle.
