Charybdis
Charybdis
A terrifying whirlpool in Ancient Greek myths, Charybdis was considered to be a fearsome sea monster. Her strength, anger and youthful passion showed fierce aggression towards any boats hoping to sail through the straights between the Italian mainland and Sicily. On the other side of the straight was Scylla, a six headed monster also infamous for her determination to bring men to their doom.
Charybdis' story is ultimately a sad one, but it is also a representation of strength and determination to stand against inequality. Some myths suggest she eventually was able to escape her fate of condemnation to being a sea monster and returned to a peaceful and contented life to nurture a beautiful family.
This pendant is made of sterling Silver with a green tourmaline centre piece which reflect the suffering, anger, passion, redemption and ultimate tranquility of a maligned Goddess. It is a combination that represents both beauty and strength.
