Dioscuri
Dioscuri
The Dioscuri were a revered family of brothers and sisters in Greek mythology. The two brothers, Castor and Pollux were renowned for their strength and bravery. Their sisters, Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra were fabled for their astounding beauty, passion, and overwhelming allure for all who set eyes on them. The siblings were considered to be either Gods and Goddesses or partial deities. The stellar Gemini constellation was named after the Dioscuri.
The legendary siege of Troy by the Spartans was a result of the mesmeric Helen being taken hostage and held in the city walls of Troy by the Trojans.
Eventually, the Spartans came up with a plan to enter Troy by building a huge wooden horse big enough to house several Spartan soldiers. The Trojans saw the horse outside the city walls and took it within their gates believing it was a gift from the Gods. At night the Spartans discreetly came out of the horse and opened the city gates whereupon their comrades entered and sacked the city and the beautiful Helen was rescued.
These unique sterling silver earrings inlaid with six multicoloured cabochon tourmalines embody the mythical nature of the Dioscuri - Strength, Beauty, Immortality, Passion, and Allure.
