Lotophagi
Lotophagi
In Ancient Greek Mythology, the Lotophagi were a race of people living on an island which flourished with lotus plants. The fruits and flowers of the plants were harvested and provided the primary food source for the island.
This harvest induced the inhabitants to sleep in a state of tranquil peace. Those who visited the isle and partook of the fruits and flowers produced by the Lotophagi never wanted to leave the idyllic haven of love. The ‘Lotus-eaters’ or Lotophagi were kind and welcoming, seducing those who came to their land with their beauty and passivity.
This 14 carat gold lotus ring with ruby centrepiece and hanging angel cut spinels is a resemblance of the calm and infatuating nature of life on the island of the Lotophagi.
